I've downloaded Ubuntu Vmware image from http://isv-image.ubuntu.com/vmware/. But I needed a username and password for log in to the system. You may already face this problem also. Then I tried with username/password: ubuntu/ubuntu. And it works. :-) So if you face this problem it may be helpful for you. Open the file "Xubuntos 2.1.vmx" from Virtual OS using any text editor. Put the following lines at the last part of this file sound.present = "TRUE" sound.virtualDev = "es1371" sound.fileName = "-1" sound.autodetect = "TRUE" Save your file. Open your OS. I think you can enjoy sound in your Vmware machine now. Good Luck.
